Back in 2009, I broke up with a boyfriend of mine that I had met in college, and moved out of our apartment that we had rented together. He began stalking me shortly after that. I changed phone numbers and changed cellular companies, but somehow he kept getting my new numbers from mutual friends so he could call me and harass me or beg for me to take him back. After a few really threatening and stressful calls from him, I reported it to the police and had his number blocked. The police served him an official warning not to call me anymore or else I could press charges against him. I finally to do a phone number look up to figure out who the mystery number belonged to, so that I could prove that it was him calling me from a new phone and get the cops to back me up. When I had proof that he owned the new number he was calling from, I could prove that he was contacting me after the police had already served him a warning for stalking/harassment. When I turned that information in to the police, they were able to confirm that the new number was indeed his, and that he had violated the warning they had given him about not having contact with me. I was extremely satisfied that the reverse lookup helped me to prove that my ex was harassing me, and helped me get enough proof for the police to arrest him on stalking/harassment charges. Because I was persistent in finding out who is calling me my ex-boyfriend can't bother me anymore, and he sat in jail for a year!
