Track Phone Calls

Do you need to track phone calls for an important reason?
I never answer calls on my cell phone from numbers that are not saved or programmed in already. I assume that people will leave a message if they know I don't who they are.
About a year ago, I received a call from a number I didn’t know and they never left a message. I’m a curious person, so I Googled their number to possibly find out who it was. The only information I could gather was that the call was from a cell phone and that the area code was based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Now, I’m not so curious that I track phone calls all of the time, but I was giving out my cell to a lot of job hunting sites and I didn’t want to pass up any opportunities. So because I was job hunting I decided to pay for a service that allowed me to search for this number.
I went through Peoplesmart, and it was $2.95 a month and they said you could cancel at any time. I found out the caller’s name, and that his mobile was registered through the company he worked with. The company was a third party administrator that did hiring for one of the corporations I applied for. I called the guy back and had a phone interview on the spot. So, in that essence I was completely satisfied. Definitely worth my $2.95 to secure a job, however I wasn’t satisfied with how complicated it was to cancel the service.
First of all, I couldn’t do the process online. This bothers me because the entire process to set up was online. It’s almost as if they assume calling them is so much of a hassle that I won’t call to cancel. Well I did call to cancel and that process took at least 10 minutes, which I also find unacceptable. All in all though, I am obviously glad I went through the process to find out that information. I wouldn’t do it again out of pure curiosity, but if I was in the same situation where I was aware there would be strange numbers calling me I would possibly consider going through a different service to track phone calls like that.
