Can you find a business by fax number

by Anonymous
(New York)

Can you find a business by fax number only IN nEW yORK? I want to know because I keep receiving calls form a facsimile number and when I pick up the phone all I hear is that loud screeching in my ear. This must be on an auto-dial or something because it has been happening every hour on the hour all day!

I called my local phone company but it is an out of state number and they were not able to help me. Is there any other way for me to find the main number for this company since I have the fax number that keeps dialing me?

Fax them back
by: Impossible

You could try to fnd a business by a fax number but it is nearly impossible. Many larghe companies use these trunk lines where individual numbers ahve no "identity" as far as the phone company and other llisting services are concerned.

I had a similar situation happen to me. This fax number kept sending me flyers for discounts to cruises and other items I ws not interested in. I just hand wrote them a letter and faxed them a request to stop, and they did.

It would have been a different story if it was one of those auto dial fax systems that just keep trying numbers from a list and there is no person manually sending the fax.

Try a reverse lookup
by: Anonymous

You can try a reverse lookup to find the name of the company who owns it. Then you might be able to get their main number by simply plugging their number in to a search engine like Google and Yahoo. You could also try connecting a fax machine (if you have one) to the line and just let the fax come through. Hopefully the calls will stop then.

You can also try sending them a fax explaining what is going on and list your phone number. Of course you would ask them to remove your information from their database for future reference. You could send the fax from home (if you can), work, or a place like FedexKinkos or Staples.

The problem is that some of these faxes that send things automatically do not belong to a specific company individually. It may be a toll free internet based service that doesn't use a physical land line at all. That will be much harder to trace. I hope one of the previous suggestions work though. Good luck.
