Business Reverse Lookup Searches

Over the past five years, I have used several free, publicly available, online people and telephone search websites. The search function I most often use is the reverse lookup, in which the search matches an individual name or company name to the telephone number I input. I usually perform this search in order to gather information about a caller or a company before responding to their business request for project support or analytical services.
Desktop telephone sets for my company’s voice over internet telephone system have a lighted display panel that displays information such as the incoming telephone number and length of call, but not the company or caller name. I often receive calls inquiring about my company’s services while I am away from my desk. When I reply to voicemail messages, I want my call-backs to be as informed as possible. By utilizing a search service, I have an idea of whom I’m calling and can do some “homework” to tailor my response to the caller’s need. A quick Google search on the company name gives me information with which I can start conversation, make connections, and identify areas in which we may be able to work together. Unfortunately, the reverse lookup function generally fails me if the caller is calling on a cell phone.
